Framing for trainers
Nothing about how to use the DHS features changes in this PR. If you already have training material for DHS check-insurance, check-eligibility, approval submission, approval detail, or manual update, it remains accurate. What's worth calling out in a training session is that these features may be appearing for the first time for some clinics — so don't assume a "refresher" audience has actually used them before, even if the feature has technically existed in the codebase for a while.
Suggested step-by-step: setting up DHS for a clinic (admin/owner role)
- Go to Settings → Integrations → DHS Integration.
- Step 1 — Add Client Secret: paste the client secret provided by DHS, then
Save & Test Connection. If this fails, the clinic's DHS account credentials are wrong or DHS's service is unreachable — this is not something Dentolize can fix on its own.
- Step 2 — Load Branches: once connected, map each of the clinic's branches to its
corresponding DHS branch code. A branch with no mapping will never show DHS actions on patients in that branch, even after this step is otherwise complete.
- Step 3 — Confirm & Save.
- Grant the relevant permissions to the roles that should use DHS day-to-day — see the
permission list in For Support.
Suggested step-by-step: day-to-day DHS use (front desk / clinical staff)
- Registering or editing a patient: use the Check Insurance action next to the
national ID field to pull the patient's real coverage from DHS and attach the correct policy.
- Before treatment: on the patient's profile, use Check Eligibility to confirm
coverage is currently active. This also appears automatically inside the Check Insurance review step.
- After charting procedures: in the patient's Chart tab, select the procedures that need
insurance pre-approval and use Get Approval in the operations table footer to submit them to DHS.
- Checking on a submitted approval: find it in the DHS approvals log to see its status
and, if needed, the raw response DHS sent back.
- If a status seems wrong or stuck: use the manual update action on the operation row
in the chart to set its status by hand.
A caution worth including in training
DHS actions only appear once a branch is DHS-connected (step 2 above) — this is a common point of confusion in training sessions where a demo clinic hasn't been fully configured. If a trainee doesn't see a DHS button they expect, check the branch mapping before assuming something is broken.
